Golden Glow Gin

The Golden Glow Gin (or The Rest and Recovery Gin / The Sniffle Sipper)

As the days shorten and the air grows crisp, there's nothing quite like a warm, comforting drink to chase away the chill.

An alternative to the traditional mulled wine; this season, we're stirring up something truly special that's both easy to make and wonderfully soothing.

Our Golden Glow Gin cocktail – which you might also lovingly call The Rest and Recovery Gin or even The Sniffle Sipper for those challenging days – offers a sophisticated blend of gentle fruit and warming spices, making it the perfect companion for a cozy evening in or a delightful pick-me-up during those sniffle-season days.

Elegant and slightly sweet, with gentle fruit and spice, this cocktail is incredibly easy to prepare yet delivers maximum enjoyment. It's a delightful twist on classic gin cocktails, designed to warm you from the inside out and bring a touch of seasonal charm to your glass.

Ingredients:

  • 50ml Original Spirit Co. Classic Dry Gin
  • 50ml cloudy pear juice
  • 50ml cloudy apple juice
  • 10ml fresh lemon juice
  • 1 tsp honey (local honey works wonders here for an extra touch of goodness)
  • A pinch of ground cinnamon or even a small slice of ginger (choose your favourite, or a tiny touch of both for a complex aroma)

Method:

  1. Gently Warm: In a small saucepan, combine the cloudy pear juice, the cloudy apple juice, fresh lemon juice, honey, and your chosen spice(s). Heat gently over low to medium heat, stirring occasionally, until the honey has dissolved and the mixture is warm but not boiling. The goal is to warm it through and infuse the flavours, not to cook them.
  2. Add the Gin: Remove the saucepan from the heat and stir in the 50ml of Original Spirit Co. Classic Dry Gin. This ensures the gin's delicate botanicals are not lost in the heating process.
  3. Serve & Garnish: Pour your warm cocktail into a heat-resistant glass or mug. For an elegant touch, garnish with a thin slice of fresh pear (lightly sprinkled with cinnamon) floating on top, or a beautifully curled lemon twist. For an extra festive touch, a cinnamon stick could also be used to stir and infuse more aroma.

    TIP:

For an added layer of sweetness and a delightful aromatic touch, create a rim for your glass using sugar and cinnamon. Simply mix a little sugar with a pinch of ground cinnamon on a shallow plate, moisten the rim of your glass with a lemon wedge, and then dip the rim into the mixture.

This delightful concoction is more than just a drink; it's a moment of mindful comfort, a liquid hug on a chilly day.

Perfect for unwinding after a long week, or sharing with loved ones around a crackling fire. When you need that extra bit of tender loving care during flu season, this might just become your go-to.

Give it a try, and let us know what you think!
