As far as locations go, the Mornington Peninsula is a Food and Drink lovers paradise. Not only home to an established and thriving wine region, a plethora of creatives, artisans and amazing fresh produce but also host to award winning distilleries, breweries & cider houses.
Small coastal villages and hinterland towns with their own unique personalities and offerings are easy to navigate and unveil surprises down every lane and around every corner.
It’s no surprise then that Somerville, located 55km South East of Melbourne and traditionally an orchard town was the perfect place for us to set up home for Original Spirit Co. where we distill our award wining Gin, Ginfusion and spirits.
A Working Distillery First
As a working distillery in the true sense of the term, on any given day you'll find Christoph, Felix and Mitch preparing and mixing ingredients, filling, running and cleaning stills and vats, test distilling, bottling, labelling and packing.
We’re a small and passionate team intent on discovery, experimentation & producing the very best spirits we can, efforts which have been recognised as far as New York, Hong Kong and San Francisco with trophies and medals awarded by some of the world’s most prestigious spirit competitions.
While we are humbled by these achievements, and enjoy being stocked by select retailers Nationwide we’re definitely not too big for our boots and on any weekend you can still find us in person at Farmers & Craft Markets around Victoria and sometimes further afield.
Laying the Foundations
While our plans for a cellar door are underway, we're content(?) (happy, proud?) that we've taken the time to establish a strong foundation by solely concentrating and growing in our craft. We're excited for Original Spirit Co.'s next venture and look forward to sharing our knowledge and premium spirits with in-person experiences at our soon-to-be built new premises.
